HEAT-TREATED

Tempered glass is a type of safety glass that is approximately four times stronger than annealed glass of the same configuration. Compared to annealed glass, it has higher resistance to impact, mechanical load, thermal stress, and achieves specific break patterns for safety glazing applications. Surface compression of tempered glass is greater than 10,000 psi and when fractured breaks into small pieces.

Heat treated glass is twice as strong as annealed glass with surface compression ranging between 3,500 to 7,500 psi. It is typically used in applications where the breakage pattern is more likely to be retained by the glazing frame.
